BLOGSTAMPS AND OTHER LINKS
Posted by Neil Uchitel under Articles - Current Events , Links , Other RidiculousnessBUSH’S NATIONAL GUARD SERVICE
Here is a very good, seemingly objective review of Bush’s service in the National Guard over at Aerospaceweb.org. From their point of view, the aircraft he flew (the F-102) was a very demanding, unforgiving aircraft to fly, taking the lives of many of it’s pilots, how members of his squadron were in fact fighting in Vietnam, and how that fighter was being phased out anyway due to the run down of the war. If Bush went in to the 147th Interceptor Fighter Squadron to “play it safe”, then he really is a dumbass, because it wasn’t safe at all.

BLOGSTAMPS
If you haven’t seen this, go check it out. The USPS has issued personalized Stamps at Stamps.com. You can upload any photo and have a sheet of real stamps made for you for $20 including shipping. Check out some other bloggers’ stamps at Politburo Dikat. Of course, you need to have copyright permission to actually make the stamps, and many of the stamps on the Politburo site do NOT have that permission. Too bad too, because some of them are very funny.
Here’s my stamp:

FRENCH EMPLOYEE PROTESTS WITH SLOTH
A writer who works 20 hours a week for the state electric utility, has written a manifesto aimed at sluggish French corporate culture, by inciting French workers to do as little work as possible (but look busy).
“A French Employee’s Work Celebrates the Sloth Ethic” (NYT.com)
Who can blame her? A friend of mine went to France for a job and had a discussion with a Frenchman in a cafe about how Americans work too much, and my friend replied that the French, on the other hand, don’t get anything done (e.g., the FedEx guy just didn’t show up on a Friday at the end of day, because, hey, it was 5:30pm already) and the man said “Yes, it’s true. In France, there is just too much socialism.” You got that right, bub.
